Applications Now Open – Deadline 16th April 2026
If you’re looking to invest in equipment that reduces waste, improves material efficiency, or recovers value from your processes, now is the time to act. Invest Northern Ireland’s Resource Efficiency Capital Grant (RECG) is currently accepting applications, with grants of up to £50,000 available towards eligible equipment purchases.
What is the Resource Efficiency Capital Grant?
The RECG is designed to help Northern Ireland businesses invest in technologies that drive resource efficiency – whether that’s reducing raw material consumption, improving processing efficiency, enabling material reuse, or recovering value from waste streams.
This is particularly relevant for businesses in the agri-food sector and manufacturing, where resource costs represent a significant proportion of operating expenditure. The right equipment investment can deliver substantial ongoing savings whilst also supporting your environmental commitments.
How Much Funding is Available?
Grants of up to £50,000 are available, with the support rate based on your company size:
- Small and micro businesses: Up to 30% of eligible project costs
- Medium businesses: Up to 20% of eligible project costs
- Large businesses: Up to 10% of eligible project costs
The grant is part-funded by the UK Government.
What Equipment Qualifies?
To be eligible, the equipment you’re purchasing must fall into one of three categories:
1. Material Elimination or Reduction Equipment that eliminates the consumption of raw materials or uses less material in the design and manufacture of your product.
2. Improved Processing Efficiency Equipment that improves the efficiency of raw material consumption through better processing, or enables the reuse of materials and waste materials generated through your process on-site. This includes equipment for reusing water or materials in manufacturing.
3. Value Recovery from Waste Equipment that recovers value from waste or water that would otherwise be vented to the atmosphere, discharged to land, or released to waterways.
Who Can Apply?
The Resource Efficiency Capital Grant is only available to existing Invest NI client companies. If you’re not currently a client, you can find out more about becoming one through the Invest NI website.
